June 2016 Favorites

I always love reading people’s monthly favorites posts because it’s a little peek into their lives and I also always end up finding something new to try. I thought it would be fun to start sharing my monthly favorites, which will likely be a mix of beauty, books, and general lifestyle.

My first favorite from this month was the CoverGirl Katy Kat Matte Lipstick.

Lipstick names

I got the shades Sphynx and Coral Cat, the first of which is a very nice nude and the latter is a really pretty coral, which I love for summer.

Lipstick colors

The formula is really nice and doesn’t dry out my lips and the color payoff is good.

Lipstick swatches

I’m a huge fan of matte lipsticks, so I was happy to add these to my collection for such a good price.

Practical Magic

My next favorite for this month was Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman. I love to read whimsical and magical books and after reading all of Sarah Addison Allen’s books, I was desperate for more of the same feeling. Tons of people recommended Alice Hoffman as a similar author to check out, and this book has not disappointed me yet. I haven’t seen the film based off of the book, but that might be next on my list to see.

The description of the book is: For more than two hundred years, the Owens women have been blamed for everything that has gone wrong in their Massachusetts town. Gillian and Sally have also endured that fate. As children, the sisters were forever outsiders, taunted, talked about, pointed at. Their elderly aunts almost seemed to encourage the whispers of witchery, with their darkened house, their love concoctions, and their crowd of black cats. All Gillian and Sally wanted to do was escape. One would do so by marrying, the other by running away, but the bonds they shared brought them back to each other and to the magic they couldn’t escape.

Animal Crossing

This is by no means a new game, but my last favorite for this month has been Animal Crossing: New Leaf. It’s such a great way to relax and pass the time and I love visiting all the little villagers and decorating my house. It’s definitely a must if you have a 3DS.
